Frequently Asked Questions

What is the point of the profiles? Players should just learn themselves!
ALL THE INFORMATION USED IN THE PROFILES COMES FROM VARIOUS GUIDES AND SOURCES THAT MANY PLAYERS USE TO IMPROVE THEIR PERFORMANCE. I HAVE FOUND FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT VISUALIZING THE INFORMATION HELPS ME UNDERSTAND HOW IT ALL CONNECTS TOGETHER AND AS A RESULT IMPROVE AT THE CLASS AND AT THE GAME.

THESE PROFILES SHOULD BE USED AS A WAY TO LEARN HOW A CLASS "FEELS" AND AT THE SAME TIME MAKE THAT INFORMATION YOU READ ABOUT MAKE MORE SENSE.

I ALWAYS RECOMMEND PLAYERS READ ABOUT THEIR CLASS AND SPECIALIZATIONS IN ADDITION TO USING THE PROFILES SO THAT THEY CAN REACH THEIR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL.
Why don't you just use weakauras! It has more to offer
at face value, weakauras seems to have more potential. this is due to how it better handles custom lua code to create auras that can do whatever the game lets you get away with. in reality however, it is far from simple to use and actually has less.

using tellmewhen I can create groups that interact with eachother, create floating variables to use as checks and counters, create a long list of conditions that track all ingame information, and also update each condition in a matter of minutes.

basic interactions between icons and  groups and the fact that i have to duplicate conditions many times over is the large reason as to why i don't use weakauras, but if the addons was to include those features i would likely switch to it simply due to the group management and importing system.
HOW DO I STOP THE GAME FROM CRASHING WHEN IMPORTING?
Profiles contain a large amount of groups, conditions and lua code. SOMETIMES THE GAME SEEMS TO FREEZE WHEN IMPORTING A PROFILE. MOST OFTEN WAITING AND LETTING THE GAME PROCESS THE IMPORT INFORMATION WILL LEAD IT TO RESOLVING ITSELF.
i have imported the profile but there are so many things on my screen. What do i do?
What you are seeing is the "Edit" mode.  simply type /tmw after importing and you will hide all groups except the ones that you need to see.

If you still see icons or groups that seem out of place, this may be due to an error and can be fixed. Please let me know if you find any issues that need correcting by using the any method on the contact page
i have imported the profile but don't see anything at all!
all profiles by default require an enemy target to appear. this is to reduce screen clutter when you're running around a city or just taking a flight master.

This can be adjusted by clicking the gear icon to choose when the profile displays, such as when in combat or if a target is required.
I have imported the Profile, and targeted an enemy. The profile Still wont show!
the import may not have worked correctly. Sometimes key groups are missing that prevent others from appearing. try importing the profile again and if the issue persists be sure to let me know using any contact method found here
how do i remove cooldowns from the rotation? I'd rather use them when I want to

All profiles for patch 8.1 + have a menu viewable by clicking the gear icon on the left of the screen. This will allow you to select which cooldowns appear in the rotation.

older version of the profile have cooldowns added to the rotation by default. first try to update the profile so that they are instead hidden by default.

you can toggle many new features of the profiles on and off using the global toggles found here
If there are abilities you want to keep in the rotation, but others you want off:

Picture
PLACE YOUR MOUSE OVER THE COOLDOWN TOGGLE ICON (seen above) TO DISPLAY THE COOLDOWN SELECTION MENU.

Click to select which spells will appear in the rotation. Tank classes can choose to allow dps or defensive cooldowns to appear in their rotations as well.
Legion and Older -
Cooldowns used to be in the rotation. How do I add them bacK?
In the Legion 1.3.0 update and forward, cooldowns are set to be disabled by default.

to re-enable the cooldowns, download the global toggles found here

NOTE: I am aware of an error causing the cooldown toggle to be disabled while the global toggle menu is hidden. To prevent this, click the wow icon to expand the toggles and keep them shown to prevent this issue.
WHy are the profiles split up for each specialization?
Due to the ever increasing complexity and size of a profile, i decided to split them into specialization based profiles to reduce memory usage and potential lag or frame drops.

General performance should be improved for all profiles.
The profile doesn't seem to update when I import!
As of BFA 8.1 +, profiles are now split based on specialization. To update a profile, follow these steps:

  1. If this is the first time you import a profile for a specialization, import as a "new profile". This is done to create a profile with the proper name so that the auto load lua can function correctly.
  2. If you have imported a profile before, you must choose to "Overwrite existing profile" when updating to a newer version. Make sure you have the proper profile loaded before overwriting.
Making a new profile if one exists while create a profile that includes a number (1, 2, etc) to represent a duplicate profile. These can be deleted on the General tab by using the delete drop menu on the top left.

WHEN WILL YOU UPDATE THE PROFILE?
I UPDATE PROFILES WHEN I AM ABLE TO. SOME UPDATES ARE SIMPLER THAN OTHERS AND I FIT ALL UPDATES INTO MY SCHEDULE. GENERALLY MAJOR FIXES WILL BE DONE ASAP WHILE SMALLER CHANGES OR ADDITIONS MAY TAKE A FEW DAYS. I ALWAYS KEEP EVERYONE UP TO DATE USING TWITTER, DISCORD AND PATREON.
How can I support the profiles and website?
YOU CAN SUPPORT ME ON PATREON OR BY DONATING TO MY PAYPAL.
YOU CAN ALSO JUST GIVE ME FEEDBACK AND MESSAGE ME ANY TIME! I APPRECIATE EVERY BIT OF SUPPORT I GET!
Profiles will no longer be updated after August 31st, 2021. Thanks to everyone who supported the creation and management of the profiles!
